Competition Winners' details

You can now read about the six winning pieces of my Love Song Competition and their composers on the Competition page of this website. Having finished a run of Schubert Ensemble concerts a week ago I have now been able to start working on all these pieces in earnest, together with the five commissioned Love Songs that I will premiere at Hoxton Hall on 26 April (well, four of them....one hasn't arrived yet!). I have also had time to return to other pieces that were submitted for the competition that were not among the six selected by the judges. The problem with so many competitions is that the attention deservedly given to prizewinners often doesn't allow room for sufficient acknowledgement of all those who have made significant contributions, but have narrowly missed out on a top place. I can't make any promises at this stage, but I am hoping that I can find opportunities in the future to perform some of the excellent pieces that didn't make it into the top six in my competition. One of the results of my researches this week has been to discover that entries came from 61 different countries - higher than we previously thought. I find it heartwarming that this project has had such an international appeal. I don't think the world we live in can have too many love songs! I would like, once again, to thank everyone who took part.
